When we were approached about trying a new social networking tool for girls 8-12 years old that would let them interact with friends in a safer and more secure way, we could not resist. As a parent today, you find yourself on one hand wanting to allow your kids to interact with their friends online and have fun, but you also realize the dangers that the popular social networking sites can pose. How difficult would you say My Secret Circle is to use on your own?
“Super easy! You just plug it in and type your password.”
“My parents installed it then I could turn it on or off by myself.”

How difficult was it to personalize your page and make it your own?”
“I liked that it was so easy to make my diva look like me.”

“Making my page was easy and I got to pick the background and everything that is me.”
“I figured it out right away and I like that it has different looks and background because all girls do not like the same stuff.”
What was your favorite part of My Secret Circle?
“I liked the games. I made a puzzle out of a photo of my dog.”
“My favorite part is the journal because I can make it private or public if I want my friends to see it and I can change the look and everything.”
“I like being able to im my friends when we are online at the same time.”

Now, as parents we also had somethings that we liked. Yes it keeps the kids interested, and they have fun sending each other notes and playing games but our favorite part is that even when something is ‘public’ in their journal it can only be seen by their friends. Unlike other social networks, the friends have to actually exchange friend codes in order to be added on each other’s list which is a big comfort. We also loved that once we installed the program and accepted the terms, the kids could log on and off with out any help as long as the remembered their passwords.
