Home Made Clay
Ingredients:
2 cups salt
2/3 cup water
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
Instructions:
Mix the salt and 2/3 cup water in the pot and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, stir the mixture until the salt is dissolved completely. Take the pot off of the heat and stir the cornstarch and the 1/2 cup of cold water into the salt water. Your mixture should get thick right away but if it does not, put the pot back on the stove at low heat and stir it continuously until it does thicken. Allow mixture to cool inside and out. Dust the work area and rolling pin with cornstarch and roll out the clay.

Tips:
Make sure that any cooked clay is cool to the touch inside and outside before giving it to children to work with.Store any unused clay in zipped sandwich bag fridge.
Dry any clay creations even faster by setting outside in the sun.
Give kids disposable foam plates to make their creations on so that they will be able to move them around with out squishing their art, and because clay may stick to some cloth and paper items.
Wash children’s hands after working with clay.
If adding any color to clay, make sure kids are wearing ‘crafting clothes’ to avoid staining.
If rolling out clay, put parchment or wax paper down to cut down cleaning time.
