Christmas Lighting – New and Improved!

by -TheBestMoms

In case you haven’t heard, Christmas lighting has gotten so much easier. Let’s start with our personal favorite: Outside Christmas Light Remote – the Skylink WS-100 Wireless Remote Control .

How does it work? EASY-You simply plug the receiver into your wall outlet and plug your lights into the receiver then presto-turn your out side lights off or on with the click of a remote that’s about the size of your car alarm remote. Kids love it because you can let them take turns turning the Christmas lights off and on safely, and you’ll love it for the convenience.

The next hit for Christmas decorating, inside and out, would have to be the LED light strings.

Insane on so many levels-first, they are super bright-but not in a bad or distracting way. We purchased white (which is really a little bluish), blue (which is a blue flame color) and for outside the larger white. The second great thing about the new lights is safety-they do not give off heat. Every season, we drive ourselves nuts wondering if we forgot to turn the tree lights off or not-now, we don’t even have to think about them (although I do still wonder about my flat iron-but that’s a story for another day). The third reason why we love these new lights is energy consumption. Now, it is too early for us to tell personally, but we have been assured by quite a few people that we will notice a substantial difference on our electric bill this year by using LED lights only. And, for those of you with pre-lit trees, adding a string of LED’s in a different color would really add spark to your tree this year and offer you new decorating options.

There are a lot of brands and styles on the market. For our LED Christmas Lights we chose the ‘strawberry’ shaped bulb (seen in the picture) and they look fantastic! The truth is, we usually have to buy a few new light strings every year anyhow so it was really nice to bypass the whole ‘plug-search-try to salvage’ old lights routine. We were also told by the store associate that next year our LED Christmas Lights will work as well as they do today. That sounds good to us!
